The very statement, “lasting change”, is an oxymoron because the body is in a constant state of flux. Daily we feel different, our bodies change and continue to age with each passing year and experience in our lives.
FIVE STEPS to Enacting Lasting Change In Your Life
1.DECIDE TO ACT. Get Fired Up. Recognize the need for radical change.
2.DETERMINE WHAT NEEDS TO CHANGE. Determine 1 (and only one) thing that you would like to change. Multiple changes, just like multi-tasking, are not beneficial in the long run. Start with one change at a time.
3. PLAN OF ACTION. Write it down – start a journal. When you come to the PYT™ method, we will work together through a specific process to carefully evaluate potential changes and identify barriers to change. One by one we will soften them, dissolve them, improve them, change them, or eradicate them to help you emerge with a better Self.
4. TELL SOMEONE ABOUT IT. Enlist an “accountability partner.” Tell someone about your goals, so they can check in with you periodically and help keep you on track with encouragement. I always help patients build a support network to help them through the change.
5. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX. Do not belittle or disparage yourself, or tolerate those who do. They are only trying to sabotage your best efforts.
